Repairs

Here at the Locoshed we are more than Happy to undertake repairs on any Model Railway items  in Gauge N ,OO or O when we have the time to do so.

Priority is always given to customers who buy their models from us rather than via ebay or other well known Retailers

This is a High Street  shop and our top priority is to sell stock its Not a walk in Service Centre for people who buy off ebay  which we regularly get . (If its something very simple such as a coupling or adjusting a pick up we will try and do it for you if the shop is not busy with customers or shop lifters!)

Any repairs brought in will have to be left with us , prefferably please ring ahead  or e-mail us before coming with them to see how our current workload is as on most occasions we are swamped with them and i rely in a very small team of guys to have a go at them.

When bringing in any model for attention Please make sure you write your full contact details including a contact phone number on a piece of paper along with the issues you are having and stick it to the Loco in question

we do not need your Boxes, instructions, detail packs or certificates just bubble wrapp the model  , Otherwise  its just more possible problems for us.

The average turn around time is 2 weeks but never guaranteed as this can be greatly extended if we are waiting for parts which are now getting very hard to source or any of my repair guys are ill away on holiday etc.

Fixed price servicing is £10 per model  for OO Models ( N gauge and O Gauge could be a lot more ) plus the cost of any parts needed ( we will always contact you if parts are required before we go any further)

Hornby Dublo and Wrenn Models could be  quite a bit more as in most cases they will need re magnetising after a service check with us first all work done by a 3rd party which we will have to send away .

Just a word of warning re the cost of some Chinese made parts. , we recently had in 2 Hornby A4s both Mallard 4468 made about 2006 in China both had valve gear damage and one required a motor, we could get the valve gear eventually at a whopping £35 per set the motor we just could not source and we gave up after 5 months of scouting the web as they have changed the design about 6 times over the last 15 years  , only certain motors will marry up to certain drive gears  as we found out to our cost after buying 2 wrong ones  , Cost of a motor last one we found on ebay was £25 then labour to replace all the bits would be a very big bill through no fault of ours so be warned if buying from ebay do your homework first.

PLEASE NOTE AS SOON AS ANY REPAIR IS COMPLETE WE WOULD APPRECIATE IT BEING COLLECTED AND PAID FOR ASAP.

ANY REPAIRS NOT COLLECTED AFTER 3 MONTHS WILL BE SOLD ON EBAY TO RECOVER OUR COSTS.
